NIDS® (Nano-Intelligent Detection System) is the core technology behind the ToxDetective test assays/tickets. By utilizing our patented nano-manipulation technology (originally developed for the U.S. Army) to orient or encapsulate biomolecules such as proteins/enzymes at the nano scale, we can unlock significant enhancement in sensitivity and stability. The system is particularly sensitive to two classes of highly toxic pesticides, carbamates and organophosphates. (Ticket_001a = Carbamate; Ticket_001b = Organophosphate).
LFA refers to “Lateral Flow Assay.” The classic example is the home pregnancy test which involves applying sample (urine) to the test strip/applicator and a result is displayed thereafter as a “Yes/Pregnant or No/Not Pregnant”. This assay design is very useful for point/field detection due to the ease of use and short testing time. The ToxDetective test assays/tickets use enzymes that react to a broad range of contaminations, not just a single target like an antibody often detects. Therefore, anything that is toxic to human health will trigger the reaction with one or more of the enzymes impregnated into our LFA tests. The more toxic or concentrated the contamination, the larger the signal difference when compared to the control. This is what leads to the Qualitative, “Yes” or “No” result displayed by the ToxDetective handheld reader. The Tox Detective analyzes and compares the fluorescence of the sample/unknown to the fluorescence of the control well (which will have no enzyme inhibition). Thus, it is critical to make sure you use pure RO water that is free of any contamination and dispense into the proper wells.
